Festive Mocktails For Spring

Whether you’re hosting a Sunday brunch, cookout, or baby shower (the mom-to-be will also appreciate a delicious, alcohol-free drink), there are plenty of ways to prepare nonalcoholic “mocktails.” Our Mary on the Beach is a delicious “virgin” take on a traditional bloody Mary; here, we give this brunch favorite the same savory taste using puréed canned tomatoes, lime juice, and red pepper and Worcestershire sauces. Garnish with a celery stick for stirring.

If you’re inviting a friend over for an al fresco lunch, consider serving our Hibiscus Tea Spritzers with Lime. This Phase 1-friendly alternative to a cranberry vodka drink has a subtle floral taste and bright crimson color. We combine the tea with sugar-free lime seltzer for a burst of citrusy flavor. Garnish with a slice of lime and some fresh mint.

Or, if gin and tonics are a favorite, our Mint-Ginger Spritzers make an excellent replacement. We simmer chopped fresh ginger in a saucepan, let it steep for 4 hours, then add mint leaves before bringing the mixture to a boil. The result is a flavorful ginger-mint syrup that we combine with chilled sparkling water.

Remember, after the two weeks of Phase 1, you can start to enjoy alcohol again (in moderation, of course!).
