Although these nuts can be made up to 3 days in advance, they create a welcoming aroma for your guests when prepared just before the party begins. Remember that while nuts are high in protein and contain a host of beneficial nutrients, they’re also high in calories; South Beach Dieters should stick to the recommended 1/4-cup serving. For a spicier version, add an additional 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne.

    or foil to line baking sheet
  • 1 large egg white(s)
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 3/4 teaspoon ginger, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper, cayenne
  • 2 cup(s) nuts, mixed, unsalted
  • 1 pinch salt

    MAKE-AHEAD: Nuts can be made up to 3 days ahead and stored in an airtight container at room temperature. Do not refrigerate. Use a combination of nuts such as such as roasted peanuts, walnuts, pecans, and/or almonds.

    Heat oven to 325ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment or foil.

    Whisk egg white until frothy in a large bowl. Whisk in cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and cayenne. Add nuts and toss until well coated. Spread nuts on baking sheet.

    Bake until nuts appear dry, about 20 minutes. Cool completely. Sprinkle with salt, if using, just before serving.

  • Enjoy a 1/4-cup serving.

Choose a mixture of nuts, such as roasted peanuts, walnuts, pecans, and/or almonds.
