I'm just starting this journey, again.  I've gone on diets so many times I dont care to remember them all.  But I have to change my life and I will need help doing that.  Sometimes I just get so tempted.  I just got over breast cancer and then was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.  The chemo and radiation really knocked me down and I couldnt do anything for a long time so I've gained weight.  I'm happy to have my hair back but now I want to lose weight and feel healthy again.  I need buddies to help me so anyone out there who can identify I'd really like a friend to help me along the way.

Hey, I am trying to get healthy before I get full blown diabetes. I am 52 and have about 50 pounds to lose. I  have been on sb for about 3 weeks and 8 lbs are gone already.  It seems easy to follow once you get prepared. I have shopped solely from the sb shopping list and gotten rid of most snack crap in the house. my husband is ready to begin with sb so he's giving up the snacks.  we eat nuts and cheese, but i find after 3 weeks i no longer want snacks. I began by telling myself that i had to do this for my health..to get my blood sugar stable, lower the choles. and triglycerides, not just to get into a new size. I read all the time about how the carbs affect my body-this is a great help.  I will help you stay on track if you'd like.Robin

Thank you for responding.  You are right to try and get this under control before you have full
blown diabetes.  I'm 48 and will be 49 in sept and would like to lose all the weight I need to lose by my 50th birthday in 9/10.  I'm only 2 days in and it's been hard.  I have cheated twice already so that's not good but I'm going to keep going, forgive myself and keep working hard.  I'm hoping in a few days I wont miss the sweets.  It's funny-----b4 I was diagnosed with diabetes I never used to care about sweets but now that someone has told me I cant have them I want them so bad!!!!!  I look forward to being your friend and going thru this journey together.  Thanks and have a good friday night!!!!

Thanks for the suggestions.  Will have to investigate those websites.  I'm just having a really hard time right now.  I cant seem to kick wanting chocolate and sweets.  I'm really down and
depressed right now.  I've hurt my knee and have not been able to exercise, which I loved doing.  I cant exercise for at least a couple of weeks and boy can I tell I havent exercised.  Oh well, tomorrow is another day and hopefully I will do better than i did today.  Thanks and have a great night.

How are you doing today? If you can just lock yourself in a room with eggs cheesesticks cucumbers and celery for about 5 days you will overcome your cravings for chocolate and sweets! I know how it feels ...it's like a drug addiction and it is a strong one. when you crave sweets go and eat some protein...tuna, chicken, imitation crab, eggs, cheese, anything to satisfy the immediate craving.  I know you can do it   it's like childbirth  painful when you're in it but soon forgotten and well worth it.

HI,

I'm relatively new to this as well.  so far I've lost about 5 pounds, but notice that my clothes definitely fit different.

I also want to let you know that I am a 16 year Breast Cancer survivor!  I was diagnosed in my late twenties, so you could say it was a little bit of a shock.  During my pregancies I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and so I kind of figured, the type two could easily be in my future.  What I like about the South Beach Diet is that once you get over the "hump" you really do feel better, more energy and the cravings do go away. My problem is habitual snacking.  When nine oclock rolls around, I go to the kitchen and start searching...

I am somewhat injured this week too.  I got a cut on the ball of my foot and it really hurts to walk.  Then last night I got a charlie horse in the other leg so its really sore.  I have been taking it easy this week to try to heal, but its hard...

Please keep in touch, we can support each other.

Shannon
