In phase 1 - looking for a buddy

Hi All,   I am looking for a buddy for motivation and support. I have been struggling to eat healthier, but I am finding it difficult when my kids and husband are not interested in cutting out all the foods I should not be eating. I really seem to lose motivation when finding myself having to prepare two meals each night-one for me and one for them. Its very tempting to just eat whatever I am cooking for them.
I seem to find myself just repeating phase 1 because I cant stick to it.
Any support would be greatly appreciated!!

I am game!  What day are you on?  I just started phase 1 and this is Day #3 for me.

An idea as far as two seperate meals you can't have one main meal for everyone and just alter what you eat.  For instance if you cook BBQ chicken, veggies, potatoes, and bread.  They eat that but you take the skin off your chicken, you don't use the BBQ sauce, you eat double veggies, and don't eat the potatoes and bread.

Just an idea.

Hi Juanda,   Great!!
I am starting over Phase 1 again-this is day 3 for me also. I was doing fairly well-struggling a little bit the first week, but then I was on vacation and slipped completely.

Thank you for the suggestion. There are times that I am able to make something that we can all enjoy, however there are more times that they want something like pasta, which is my weekness :-(
I dont want to deprive them of the things they enjoy because I am on the SBD...so it's just a little hard.

How are you making out so far?

I am doing well.  Late yesterday was a little rough for me.  I WAS HUNGRY!  LOL.  I ended up putting some salmon and zuccini on the grill so that really satisfied me.  Acutally, I just got finished eating leftovers . . . yummy.

I also worked out today and yesterday.  Have you gotting any excercise in?

I am not weighing myself today.  I said that I would wait until the morning . . .

Sounds yummy..salmon is my favorite.

I think one of the biggest hurdles for me is the constant feeling of being hungry!! I am not used to small portions...and up until about a year ago I ate whatever I wanted without worrying about my weight. I dont know what change...my eating habits stayed the same, only now the lbs are packing on.
And I just feel like every where I turn there are temptations calling my name...ugh!! Donuts and bagels in the office for breakfast, hogies and pizza for lunch. Its overwhelming.

I have been trying to get as much excercise in as possible given what little time I have for it. I try to walk for a 1/2 hr - 45 min a day during my lunch break...when its nice out. I also trying to ride my bike when the time is there.

What made you decide to join SB?

Commit to excercising at least three days a week.  It will make a huge difference!

I remember when I could eat whatever too, ugh!

I have done south beach before.  I joined the site because I wanted to be able to look up new recipes.  Plus I am committed to getting into top shape and wanted some encouragement.

Good sweet . . .

http://www.recipezaar.com/South-Beach-Peanut-Butter-Cup-102681

Ingredients Directions
  1. Microwave fudge pop for about 10 seconds until soft.
  2. Scrape fudge pop off of stick into bowl.
  3. Add peanut butter and whipped topping; Stir together.

I put mine in the freezer about for 15-20 minutes, so it is like ice cream. Yummy.  I use regular peanut butter but only the alloted daily amount 1 tsp.  If you use natural peanut butter you can use 2 tsp.

The recipe calls for sugar free or no sugar added.  I only use sugar free pops in Phase 1.

mmm...that sounds really good. I think I'll try that this weekend. I think my kids will like that too.

Make it a great day!
