Hi,

I just rejoined South Beach and am starting Phase 1 today.  I have 17 pounds to lose (now I am at 152, my goal is 135) and am wondering if there are any people who would like to participate in a challenge to lose a goal amount by Thanksgiving?  Or, people who want to become beach buddies for mutual encouragement?

My goal is to be at 142 by November 21st (the Sunday before Thanksgiving week).  That is 8 weeks and I have a goal of 10 pounds (1.25 pounds a week).  I know many lose more quickly but my body loves 150 and I have always found these last pounds really difficult to lose, so I want to be realistic.

Hi Gogo,

Having a goal sounds like a good idea to me. I am at 165, and my ultimate goal is 135, though I haven't been there since high school. I would like to join you in the goal of 10 pounds by Thanksgiving.

Taking the challenge,
Jenny

Hi Jenny and Linda!

Looks like we have a little team building.  Should we introduce ourselves?  I'm a teacher, wife, and have an undetermined number of cats (three inside and in the last weeks two outside I am hoping we can find other homes).  I love wine and have problems and portion control.  Good news is that I love being active.

I'm in phase one.  Day two tomorrow. I think I'm reading and willing to take the plunge!

I would love to join your challenge! I have been on SBD for about 5 weeks now.  I lost 7 pounds in my first two weeks (on Phase 1) and then gained a smidge back.  I'm about 166 now, my goal is be back to my pre-pregnancy weight of 152, but my real goal and comfortable weight is to be closer to 140.  10 pounds by Thanksgiving sounds really great! Working as a buddy system may just help these little bouts of discouragement I've been getting (although I definitely try to keep myself positive) since I haven't lost recently.  I'm on board!

GoGo!

I would love to join your challenge!  I also need a Beach Buddie.  Someone to help me stay on track.  I can gain anywhere from 15-20 lbs. from Halloween to New Years!  I don't want to do that this year.  So, if I know I am being held accountable to my fellow SB'ers, maybe that will do it for me.  OMG!!  Get rid of the Halloween Candy!

Hey all! Let me in on this exciting adventure!  I originally lost 60 pounds on the south beach diet. Over the last three years I have gained ten back... Not a big deal as I still feel great 80% of the time, but decided by Christmas I would get these ten pounds back off. I really need the help!  Look forward to visiting with you girls!

I just join with my husband.  We plan on starting this diet tomorrow.  Did the grocery shopping today.  We did this diet seven years ago and both lost, but sad to say we gained back more weight because we did not keep it up.  So to answer you question I am very interested in a challenge to Thanksgiving.  I have 50 pounds to lose, and I am aiming for 2 pounds per week.  I am going to join curves tomorrow, so that should help me also.  Plus in the evenings I will be walking the dog at least two miles, until the snow flies here in North Dakota.  I weigh every Monday at curves so will post that here, so good luck to everybody.  Also thanks for your support ahead of time.  LET'S GO!!

I am so glad to see we have such a great group!

I started out my morning with plain yogurt and sugar substitute. I haven't done my shopping yet. Anyone have any quick meals I can make for work?

Have a great day and I look forward to hearing back about your south beach, no cheat day!

This sounds great!  It is time for me to really get motivated.  How does this work?  Do we check this post daily?  What's the next step?

I had Uncle sam cerewal, bananaand skim milk, Lunch Tomatoe, celery, black olives, oven roasted chicken (perdue) and fat free italian dsgand 1 Tbsp of parmesean cheesae good and quick. I think I have been eating too many carbs. Good things in frig are FF cottage cheese, plain ff greek togurt, hummus, celery, and other frsh vegetables also V-8 and cheese sticks these things help me get throught also whole bagels or bread. Hope this helps. Kathy

Is Fat free the way to go? and is greek better than plain old yogurt?

Way to do such a great job today Kathy. I am going to do phase 1 for two weeks.

Are we allowed to have pork chops?

Hi Go Go and everyone,

This is a great idea!  I want to join, too.  I just started today at 182, and am aiming for 15 lbs down by Thanksgiving.

How are we going to do it?  Just post weekly to this thread?

Hey Heather,

I'm hijacking your question to say hi.  I used to live in Ft. Collins, near CSU on Prospect and College.  I loved it there!

The ff greek yogurt has a creamier texture than regular yogurt.  Supposedly it's higher in protein, too. The ***e fat free makes really good spinach dip, is nice with nuts, etc.  I love it!

This looks like the challenge for me!  I'm back on the beach (again), 152 with a goal of 135 also.  I know what you mean when you say "my body likes 150" - mine too..
