I'm planning to join challenge! I tried the last one, but couldn't get here very often. Now that school has started and I'm getting back into my routine, I'm hoping this will work better. Looking forward to a fresh start and a great fall!

Admin. Richard please let me know in plain English what I am supposed to do in the South Beach Diet 2010 Fresh Start Challenge. I realize everything is clear to most people. I am a little slow. I want to lose weight and participate, but I do not understand how to play the contest. Please let me know. Thanks, Widower1.

Hi Ruth! Not all of us hibernate in the winter!! There's snowshoeing, skiing, hiking, lots to do. So yyou go, girl! I'll be right there with you! (And I do need to fight the urge to belly up and hibernate!)

Great to see everyone here! Should be a good challenge. Widower 1, if this contest is like the others, they will give us tasks each week to do for the week, and some way to report on them. You do the task, report in, and that's pretty much it. I'm sure Admin Richard will give us more direction as the week goes on. Just remember to check in here to see what's new! (That's my biggest area of fault, I forget to check in!)

Good luck everyone!

Deb--- love these Challenges= keeps me motivated. I know NE folks
are hearty souls-- spent almost all my life there BUT after fighting
the winter weather it's just good to make it home and stay put. Yes,I
do know about the skiing but I do think the tendency is to cacoon ourselves
So different now that I live in Florida but the heat is an obstacle
too--- my walking is now at night but that is getting better as the
temps begin to cool  GREAT seeing you here and on E and F too

Woooooo, LOTS of new participants with this new challenge!  I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all and I can hardly wait to see all the fresh new ideas!!!!

Widower1 - It's real simple.  Each week on Monday morning, Richard will post a challenge for the week (there will be 6 all together).  Log in, read the challenge, and then during the coming week post back on that challenge's message thread about how you met the challenge.  Tell us the recipes you tried, how you liked them, what your experience was, etc.  And don't forget to read all the other challenge replies-we learn so much from each other!  On the following Monday morning, Richard announces the winner of the previous week's challenge and posts a new discussion that explains the NEXT challenge.  Try to post at least one experience each week in order to qualify for that grand prize at the end of the 6 weeks.  HAVE FUN!!!!!

Hi Everyone
I am excited to start the fall challenge.  I have been having difficulty navigating on the boards!  I am hoping to find my way around with this challenge.  Heading out for my morning walk and starting myself back on Stage One.

widower1, we've explained the challenge in our recent thread, "About the Fresh Start to Weight Loss Challenge." That should provide all of the information you're looking for!

I am in too!   Ready and raring to go!  So many challenges are in my path right now.  What excitement!  As of yesterday, we are competing at work (school) to lose the most weight.  Weighed in.....and found that I have gained back what I originally lost in the spring.  :(   My biggest fear seems to be trying new and different foods that are healthier for me.  I have not been too adventuresome in that department!  Here goes!  Looking forward to our adventure together!

I'm in!  While traveling this week by plane I read Dr. A's. Heart Health Revolution. Goodness, I thought I understood my risk factors for my health, but this book was easy to understand and really opened my eyes.  This challenge is my official commitment to life style changes that simply must happen.  I agree with one posting below, I get the topics for the challenge but how are we held accountable?

I know, that was VERY cool!  I'm not sure what I expected... I was actually quite nervous when I realized we'd be able to hear each other.  Silly, huh!  :)  But it was nice to hear all your voices too, it adds substance to my friendship with you and the others!

What a GREAT teleconference too!  It was refreshing to discover that this untouchable "super hero" doctor actually craves bad foods, has lapses in willpower, and occassionally even <gasp> eats off-plan!  WOW!  He's just like US!  Hehehe!

What fun, hope we get to do it again sometime!

Yes, I remember that aspect the first time I spoke with him. He has some of the same challenges we do- it is called L-I-F-E !
And BTW- he is very approachable.

I had the very same impression.  Dr Agatston is very easy to speak with.  I must say that the idea of the teleconference was quite intimidating to me at first, but when it came down to it I had no problem speaking with him!

OH, by the way!  I am going to be hosting the petting zoo and doing daily demonstrations for milking at the Fall Country Farm Fest in Payson (a nearby little farm community) next month.  The family that puts on this grand annual event contacted me about it a few months ago.  I just heard from her again this past weekend.  She had gone to my webpage to pull information for a bio she is doing of me for HER webpage and for the signage that she is putting around the festival to advertise my little business.  She saw your poem and is going to make it up, laminate it, and incorprate it somehow into the "decorating" of the milking area that I will be using!  You will be famous!  Several thousand people attend this small town festival every year!

Wow, that is too cool

You have my permission. Let me know how it goes. Funny - when I saw your note about Payson, I had to look again, In Arizona , north of here by about 3 hrs is PAYSON, AZ. It is in the pines trees and really a lovely place. If you were going there, I'd be up visiting for sure!
