  • How do I reply/post?

To reply, or to post a comment, simply click on the “reply” link at the top right or bottom left of any post. That will take you to a form in which you can write and submit (“post”) your response.

  • How do I post my weight?

Each week, we’ll have a separate “thread” (or discussion) dedicated solely to weigh-ins and, if appropriate, the posting of before and after photos. These threads will be clearly marked and will be found within the 2010 New Year’s Challenge section of the South Beach Diet Community Challenges message board.

  • How do I post my picture or badge?

To post a photo, make sure that photo is hosted on another Web site (and not To post a photo, make sure that photo is hosted on another Web site (and not just stored on your computer). Right-click on that picture, select "copy," and then go back to your message-board reply. Place the cursor in the reply box, and right-click "paste." Your picture should now appear in your response.

  • How do I add a badge to my signature?

Click on "My Preferences" (found on the left-hand navigation list). Click on the same words on the resultant page. This will bring you to a form where you'll add your badge. Right-click on your badge and select "copy." Go back to the form and go to the "Personal Signature" section. Put your cursor in the signature field and right-click "paste." Your badge should appear in the signature field. Click "Submit" at the bottom of the page.

If you're using a browser such as Firefox, with which you can't simply copy and paste your picture into your signature file, you'll need to add code to your sig file. Type this code: <IMG SRC="URL"> and replace the letters URL with the complete Web address where your picture can be found (this will typically start with "http://www..."). Remember to click "Submit" at the bottom of the page.

  • Where’s the audio? / How do I call in?

There is no audio, and no number to call in, this is done entirely on the message boards through message-board posting. Simply reply to a post to be part of the conversation! To keep up, just periodically refresh your screen so that you’re seeing the latest posts.

  • What if I can’t make it?

We understand that not everyone has the ability to make it to the live chats, and that the times may not be convenient for people with full time jobs or situations that limit their free use of computers. Alternative options for participating in the challenge are acceptable, including posting in the thread after the chat session. Going forward we’ll work to make it even easier for members to take part in these events.

  • Am I interrupting? / What should I ask?

Our first meeting was designed to be an introductory conversation for people to discuss the meeting itself, their goals, the Challenge and the South Beach Diet overall. Going forward, meetings will be topic-specific; as long as it’s on-topic, it’s a good question.

  • I can't find the thread; where did it go?

Once you've viewed all of the posts in a thread, that thread will not display when you return to the main page of the Challenges message board. The default view is to "show discussions with unread messages." To see every thread, use the pull-down menu beneat the words "Show Discussions" and select "All."

I am getting really frustrated.  One time when I log in the weigh-in thread is there and the next time it isn't.  I checked a few minutes ago and the thread was there for today's discussion and now it isn't.  I have been searching on how to get a picture on my profile and can't find a reference anyplace!  Frustration leads to stress leads to weight gain...and I am confident that is not the result you desire.

Hi.  To put in a pic on your profile, click on My Account up at the top of a page.  There you will find profile info and a place to upload a picture.  I see lots of people have them, but for some reason I can't get one to show up there, so that's why I have the cute little kitty.  SB has some avatars you can use if you don't want your own picture.  To put a picture on the weigh in thread or in your personal signature(found in My Preferences in a message board) just upload a pic to a free Photobucket account and then copy the image and paste it into the personal signature area and then scroll down and click Submit, or for a message just paste into the message you're typing.  If you need more help, just let me know.  Glad to help out.

What kind of code are you entering? You should just be entering the URL of your picture. (A URL is the Web address, which will usually begin with "http://www...")

You don't want any of those codes. Just right-click on your photos and select "Properties." Copy the Address (URL) and paste it into the form on this reply box.

That works Richard, but it's much easier to just copy and paste the image.  That worked for me.  I think members would understand that better.

Dear Richard:
I am new to this type of forum.  I have not been able to find my way around the site.  I am looking for posts for the day and am unable to find any.  What am I doing wrong.  How do I get posts to read from the newest to the oldest and how do I get rid of really old posts that appear.    Is there a place on the site that I can go to that will show me how to navigate.
Thanks in advance.

Hi thinkingthin2010,

Unfortunately, we don't support first to last post views, it's an awkward format for many of our members and is impractical to code for.

In regards to seeing primarly "old threads", you can select to view only threads that have unread posts, or to view threads that have had posts inthe past two days.  Just look at the top left, ab ove the threads, adn it will give you both options in a drop down.  Hope that helps.
