At 44 and 167 pounds, I am tired of feeling exhausted, in pain and unable to do the things that my active 3 1/2 year old wants to do. It is time to make a commitment to a healthy lifestyle, not just for myself, but for my family, too. I know the South Beach Diet works. I have tried it before and lost 10 pounds in two weeks. It just takes commitment. Something I didn't have before. It is an attitude, a good habit that takes some time to develop. I have a loving family who will help me to achieve my goal of losing 37 pounds. So, I am ready! Bring it on...

It's right here on this message board - there is a challenge posted each week (designated by "Week 1," "Week 2," etc.) with an assignment, and you report back (by replying) as to what you did and how you did on that week's challenge.
Hope that helps!
Hope that helps!
that helps thanks. i see in the official rules that you have to post in each of 6 different boards each week. ???

Hi Marcieface,
You need only post once a week in each new challenge announcement. This week is week 2 of the Newbie Challenge so a post under Week 2 is what we ask. You want to comment on the week's challenge which is about setting obtainable goals.
It needn't be anything fancy just your own feelings.
Hope this helps.

Hi All
Today is my first day and I am 49 and 75 lbs overweight I have been struggling with my weight for 5yrs now and putting this off for way to long but the deal breaker for me was when i was told by a life ins company that they couldnt increase my life insurance because i was obese and needed to lose weight first. Wow thats the worst feeling to hear those words my doctor never even said that. so I am going to get back in shape because I dont ever want to hear those words again.

Hi sizzer562,
Welcome to the Beach!
Sometimes it is very difficult to be told some things even when we are well aware of them. It's much like seeing ourselves in a full length mirror when we usually only look from the shoulders up.
Nevertheless, sometimes getting a bit of a shake-up is helpful in motivating us to do what we need to do.
Have you considered joining us in the April Newbie Challenge? You could win a month of free time just by posting under the weekly threads.
