Mid August and heat

Hi everyone! There haven't been many posts lately, so I thought I'd start a thread for conversation. Here it is the 3rd week in August. We have just about 3 weeks of the challenge left. What has been your biggest challenge this summer? What did you do to try to overcome it? And how do you feel about your choices?
My biggest challenge when it gets hot (like it has the past few weeks) is ice cream. DH loves soft serve, and would go everynight to the local parlor and get a cone. We have been going a few times, but like everyother week, not every day. That's been one thing we've done to overcome it. We had been creeping up a bit on the weight and decided that was something we could change and fix and it seems to be working. I feel good that we were able to determine what needed to be changed, how to do it, then implement it so that we could continue to see progress. Is it perfect? No, but better, and that's what I keep striving for.
How about you?
Deb

The heat of August is getting to me as well especially since the humidity has hit an all time high for the summer of over 55%.  I did my SB SuperCharged workout last night - interval walking.  I waited until it was 9 PM so that it cooled down to 95 degrees F, but he humidity still killed me!

I have had a couple of challenges so far:
1.  Week long vacation and wedding event, but even though I didn't follow SB 100%, all of the food was natural and there was TONS of walking and carrying things around - so my weight even dropped a half pound in that week.  I tried to overcome all of the wedding event feedings by eating a lot of healthy vegetables and minimizing the amount of bad carbs.

2.  Moving into Phase 2 has been a little bit of a challenge but I think that I am getting into the groove and remembering what healthy eating feels like.  Between being pregnant and then breast feeding for over a year, I got so used to just eating whatever and whenever.  Now that my daughter is older, I have a little more time to cook and pay attention to what I am eating and now she is enjoying some of the same foods I am cooking for myself and hubby.  I have overcome my worries about Phase 2 by visiting the website close to everyday and trying to be more in tune with my body and its cravings.  I have noticed that some cravings aren't physical - that they come from my head and I can usually talk them away by reminding myself of the goals I have and what I have already eaten for the day.  I had a big craving the other day when I walked through the store closest to my house and they had just put the fresh baked goods - the whole store smelled like fresh baked bread... but I had already had my starch serving for the day, so I didn't buy any.

3.  My daily challenge has been dealing with sinus issues which are always a pain but more so when trying to work out and eat good stuff.  There are times when it would just be easier to flop on the couch and eat junk.  I attack this challenge by keeping focused on my goals and reminding myself that I am doing what is best for me and my family.

4.  One other challenge has been keeping fresh vegetables fresh!  My husband travels and is gone during the work week and home on the weekends, so I am really cooking SB for myself during the week and for both of us on the weekends.  Going to the grocery store with my 16 month old daughter is a challenge to focus on getting the good vegetables and keeping her out of EVERYTHING.  I usually have a babysitter for an hour or so each day so that I can get to the gym and back and sometimes the store.  However, sometimes I buy fresh vegetables and they go bad before I can get around to making that dish.  I just need to plan better.

This is a long post, but thanks for the question - it really got me thinking.  I am enjoying making the SB recipes and the support of the boards is great.

blessings,
Stacy
