Current Status:  walk 20-30 minutes, pace varies, not done for a consistent number of days/ week

Goals:  Walk 45 min, with interval training, 5 days/week.  Increase my endurance, energy, and weight loss.

Plan to Achieve Goal - steps: 1. walk 30 min, 5 days/week at moderate pace. 2. When step 1 done consistently (approximately 2 week), add interval training to each walk.  3. After comfortabley doing invervals, gradually increase duration from 30-45 min to achieve final goal.

Update to First Step of Plan to Achieve Goals:  Be conscious of posture while walking -- strive to contract abdominals, keep chest up, and keep chin parallel to the ground.

This is the first challenge to my goals, but I am working to overcome lack of proper posture by maintaining awareness while walking.  So far this first week I am on target to walk at least 5 days for 30 min at moderate pace.

Met my goals for the first week!  I am motivated to stay the course.

Right now I walk in daylight at the beach area in the town where I live.  Safety is not a concern - lots of other walkers and several paths. As days start to get shorter and darker earlier, I may need to modify the time I walk to to keep a daylight walk. As the weather starts to get cooler here in New England, I will be re-assessing my clothing - jackets, pants, etc.  I plan to use moisture wicking materials. I have new sneakers and appropriate socks - so my feet are taken care of.

Am still on track and feel great!  Have started to add intervals into the walk.  As I am out of shape, I ccan only do 3-4 repetitions - my challenge is to gradually build the number of repititions of intervals into my 30 min walk as I seem to have met the goal of walking on a consistent basis throughout each week.  Now I need to build my stamina - will keep the gradual approach.
