We don't have a special guest this week - just us gals (and guys) chatting about what we've learned over the last 14 weeks!  Can you believe how quickly this first quarter of the year has gone by?!

What have you learned - about yourself, the SBD, your eating habits, shopping for groceries, etc. - over the last 14 weeks?  How will you use what you have learned to sustain your motivation and carry you forward - either into phase 3 or through the rest of phase 2 and into that oh-so-challenging maintenance phase?

What habits have you acquired (or broken) during this time?

How has the challenge helped you?

Just a few thoughts for possible discussion starters...

This is like the meeting the on Monday.  Where is everybody???  Linda, I have learned so much from this challenge!  I love the whole idea.  It really got me to get in touch with what is really going on -- and why I gained the weight in the first place.

Not yet.  I had the darnest time getting the Pre-picture to post.  I had to go back to my camera and upload it from there -- There is really a change.  But, I will get it posted when I got home.  Tuesday AM.  I am jsut so pleased that I was able to at least get here.  I kept telling my driver to hurry up -- time change and all -- so I could make the meeting!!

Technically, the meeting has not started yet, so I am hoping my peeps will trickle in...  It's kind of tough to carry on a conversation with yourself (LOL) -- At least the other weeks there was a "guest" to chat with.

Anyway, I am delighted to hear that the challenge has helped you to become more self-aware.  I know that for myself, that has been the key -- understanding why I made the choices I made and then developing the coping strategies and skills to overcome all of the challenges of stress eating, family and peer pressure (oh, "One day off the diet won't hurt you"...).

Once we understand WHY we gain the weight, we can make a plan to overcome those challenges.

Where are you headed?

In case someone reads this after we end the meeting -- I do want to say that I have really thought about all the things I have learned from this challenge.  I think the most important thing is that it isn't just ONE thing that makes it work.  The emotional eating was a biggie with me and then -- ask myself whether it is hunger or just feeding my emotions -- that FOOD IS NOT THE ANSWER!  How can we keep this up for future meetings??

Hey, glad to be checking in.
Boy, I am going to miss our weekly chats.  It has been such a day-brightener for me to see what everyone else has been up to the last few months.
For me, the Challenge did what I wanted it to do - get me over the hump after the thrill of my first, early, relatively easy weight-loss goals were met.  I was - and still am - afraid that my bad habits would start creeping back in and I would be trying to take it all off again in a couple of years.  I needed some help establishing a "whole-life" approach to maintaining a healthy weight and some encouragement when the pounds come off ever so slowly.

I really learned a lot about exercise - funny, because I have been active all my life.  It was the importance of consistency that the Challenge helped me understand that has been the most important mainstay of my new lifestyle. Good luck to everyone going forward

I am really time lagged.  What time is the meeting supposed to be??  I am going to have to sign out pretty soon and check in to the hotel before the lines get too long.  I will have to wait until I get back on Tuesday am to see what everybody says.

I've been thinking about how we can continue to communicate with one another.  I'm more than happy to continue to start a thread each week -- I can't promise that I'll be "live" every week as I have had to reschedule things at work a few times to do the live meetings...

If there's enough interest, I can keep on keeping on with you all.

It's now officially 3:02 p.m. Eastern time, so folks should be trickling in!

Check in later if you want -- I usually check these threads throughout the week.  Enjoy your trip!

I am afraid the bad habits will creep back for me too.  I too would like to see us arrange a weekly meeting to check in and get some feedback from each other.

That's a great idea.  We can always check on each other if we can't be there at the exact time of the designated meeting.

Oh, yes, please!  Can we continue?
It would be so great to see how everyone is doing and Linda, you are such an inspiration.  I even started apply SBD techniques to money management, if you can believe it (Credit card charges = bad carbs) LOL

Hi, geemamaak!  Good to see you!

I am truly glad that these meetings have been helpful.  I remember years and years ago when I did Weight Watchers, I dreaded the meetings.  There's something about the anonymity of cyberspace that makes this a little more fun and interesting -- don't you think?

I also agree that we've had a terrific little Friday community of cheerleaders and supporters.

As I said to Carolyn, it's so important to get into the mindset of lifelong healthy eating as opposed to a "diet" (which always meant for me at least - something I would "go on" to lose "some" weight so that I could go back to all my old bad habits and then be shocked when I gained it all back).  I know that I can never go back to the old ways -- unless I want to go back to the "old me" (and I didn't much like that gal)!

Well!  That's two votes for continuing....  I'm game to give it a try for a few more weeks -- We'll see how things go!  And, my friends, there's no reason why other folks couldn't start the thread... Whomever gets here first can open the thread -- it's easy to do - and then pick a topic to start the discussion.

What do we think?

I love applying the good carbs/bad carbs techniques to money management!  LOL....  Maybe the "good charge/bad charge"....
