Do you have a playlist that keeps you motivated on your walks? If so, post some of your favorite walking tunes here in the message board and let us know why they keep you moving. Maybe the song is fast paced so it pushes you to walk faster, or the tune is inspiring which encourages you to walk further, or maybe the music helps you relax. Whatever the reason, share it with the group!

I'm a huge Jimmy Buffett fan and I keep the fast pace songs in my top rated playlist section.  Jimmy Buffett just puts me in a great mood.  Beach music!!

The variety of what I like to listen to, while I walk, is as vast as my walking moods.  Usually I like to listen to books on tape because with my hectic life I don't seem to be able to enjoy reading like I used to in the past.  I like to listen to a good comedy or mystery as I walk.  Some of my favorite books I listened to lately are the Alex Cross novels, Nora Roberts - Blood Brothers Trilogy, and most recently a book called Comfort Food.   There was one time that I was so engrossed with my book on my mp3 that I had walked an hour and a half before I realized I was out so long.  I had just walked into town taking side streets and walking all around the different town blocks.
If I do walk with music, it could be just about anything from the fiddling of Charlie Daniels to Phantom of the Opera.  If I really want to get hoofing, I will listen to Nickleback or a little Runa Paca (native music from Chile).
Then there are the days that I just love to listen to the sounds of nature as I walk the trails in this area of the Finger Lakes so I leave my mp3 at home.   There have been some absolutely beautiful, sunny fall days where the birds are chirping, the geese are flying, and the squirrels are chattering at me as I walk by on the trails.  I just wish they would pick up those nuts they are collecting from the trail up a little faster so I don't trip on them ;o)  Have a great week of walking my friends.

I'm with you on liking the nature sounds if I'm at the park.  I have some music from the grands....some Hannah Montana, High School Musical, Kidz Bop, Taylor Swift.  I rarely buy music just for myself, but if I did it would probably be oldies.  Oh, I forgot, I did buy myself a cd of praise songs and some of them are really inspiring and peppy.  I also particularly like "We're All In This Together" from High School Musical. :-)  I have a mixture of fast and slower songs that I think works well for interval walking.  I have a few books that I listen to also.

I have never walked to music, not a habit I ever developed.  But I do enjoy the sounds of nature, birds singing, the wind blowing and even the barking of the dogs, I guess you would say that is my music.  However; I do have a saying that I hear in my head over and over again, it is "you can do it, you can do it, keep going, you will reach your walking goal!!!!"  Hearing these words in my head encourages me to continue to increase my pace and increase my walking time so I can reach my fall walking challenge goals!!!!

It is interesting how different music revs our engines to get walking.  I also love to listen to Cletic music even though I am from a German background.  On last night's walk the battery on my mp3 died so I just walked without it.  I walked along the lake listening to nature, just as you do.  It was a beautiful night with the lake gently lapping against the shore.  I was tempted to just pull up a seat on a dock and ponder life as it is but decided I needed to keep hoofing in order to meet my walking goal.   There were a few walkers and bikers out too and it was nice to get a friendly greeting on the way too.  The geese and ducks were coming in for the night and talking to their buddies already on the lake.  Since I was on the lower lake road, I could hear the traffic on the upper main road and it made me feel sad for all those people who had to rush home instead of stopping for a nice walk around the lake.  The only noise I didn't like was the person with the leaf blower.....when I am taking a nice walk ponder the direction of my life, leaf blowers are like the mosquitos of the yard world as far as noise goes.  But I just seized that as an opportunity to do one of my interval sessions and walk a little faster.  When you walk, do you have a lot of loose dogs that come up to "discuss" that you are walking a little too close to their property?  I had one last night but I could tell he was all talk and no action.  Most people are pretty careful about keeping their dogs contained as people walk by.   You are doing great with your walking.  You really inspire me to get out and get a walk in, even if it might not be as long a walk as I would have liked to have done.

I'd love to have a lake to walk around on my way home. :-)  If I do that I have to drive about 15 min to the park.  In my neighborhood there are 3 dogs I think.  One is tied up, one in a fence, and one has the invisible fence.  That one makes me a little nervous.  My usual route is over around and through the cemetery, and there aren't any dogs there.  Sometimes there will be someone visiting a grave or another person from the neighborhood walking, but usually it's pretty quiet.
You and Sandy are my inspiration.....you just get out and go more than I do it seems. :-)  Keep it up!

I think we have a great group over on E&F as far as support.  I am kind of sad to see how few people are posting to this Fall Walking Challenge.  It started out quite strong.

I am surprised to see so few walkers in this challenge.  The one thing about walking is it does not cost a whole lot of money (other than good shoes) and I can do it on my own time table.  I just don't think people realize how great is for your body as well as soul.  So glad to meet you guys on this site.  Tori

I can't remember, Have you joined us over on Candy's walking thread on Exercise and Fitness?  When you get done with this challenge do you want to come over?   We have a great bunch of walkers over there.  Candy is not on much right now but Janet is covering her while she takes care of a friend who is ill.  I too think walking is a great type of exercise!  For all the reasons you say AND the fact that it just makes me feel great.  Glad to have met you here too.   What other boards do you hang around on?  As far as the website goes, I like to use the recipe section too.

Thanks for the invite.  Was the site  "Weight fallin off like October Leaves?".  I saw your name and Gwen's over there.  Can you tell me what a E point is?  I've been on SB since Aug 24th and I'm still exploring more and more!!  I usually check Phase 2 site several times a day but I don't think I've been to the exercise site.  I also love the recipe section.  I'm always looking for SB friendly recipes.  I love to cook and modify my recipes to SB.
I've got to tell you, I'm down at San Clemente for a few days and sooo enjoyed my walking by the beach.  I was here most of the summer and I could not get over how much easier the walk was minus 20 lbs.  I see you've lost 50 lbs and you must be gliding on those walks!!!  I will check out the exercise site!!  Thanks  Tori

I was also surprised to see how many have dropped out.  At first I wasn't getting notified if someone posted to me in this section.  It's different from the other boards.  Maybe some got put off by that.  I've seen you on one of the other boards, but can't remember exactly where.....maybe Phase 2?  Come over and join us on Exercise and Fitness.  There's a monthly walking thread there.  I agree.....walking is my best form of exercise.

Yes, that's it, Tori.  On phase 2 I post in the Beach Party thread and 15 Mile Sisters.  We try for 15 miles a week,Sun-Sat,  and post our miles to Val(MedChunk) at the first of the week.  She keeps track and posts a chart of everyone's miles.  I tend to chime in here and there .lol
An E point is 10 min of any kind of exercise.

Gwen, I also do Friday weigh in.  I saw your name there, congrads on 1 lb loss.  I did not check in because I'm out of town.  Next week, hope I'm even with eating out so much.  I just need to walk to make up for eating out!!  Check out Jimmy Buffett, it's really a cult following.  You would be surprised how many Parrotheads there are out there.  He is a prolific ballad song writer.
I was hoping an E point would be something like an reward for exercising so much, like an extra starch!  I guess in my dreams!!!    Tori

Well, most weeks I don't make 15 miles.  There's no pressure, we just try for 15.  There isn't much chatting there lately, mostly reporting in.
