When Jack C. was diagnosed with prostate cancer, his doctors were able to catch it in time, and fortunately he made a full recovery. But as the owner of a catering service, Jack was constantly surrounded by food — sometimes very unhealthy food. After Jack put on 30 pounds postsurgery, his wife said, "You are going on the South Beach Diet." That's when he and his wife, who had started the diet two weeks earlier, learned how to make the South Beach Diet a way of life. Before they knew it, the weight was beginning to drop (6 pounds the first week, and 6 the next!). So far Jack has lost 26 pounds, and his wife has lost 18. They plan to follow the South Beach Diet for "life" — life as in "living," and life as in "forever."
